Abstract: It has been suggested that surgeons will never be able to compete with the farrier who successfully sewed back into place, with the aid of fresh sprigs and laurel shoots, the entire rear portion of the Lithuanian horse which the intrepid Baron Boris von Muncausen had just ridden under a falling portcullis. The writer, it is hoped, will be forgiven his enthusiasms when he declines to agree with the above statement.
