Malta is accustomed to the visits of important. people. Grand Harbour, the most spacious in the Mediterranean is ever open to welcome passing ships, and the island itself, situated in the centre of the Middle Sea is at a nodal point for visitors to the Near or Middle East or to North Africa. But a very special welcome was reserved for the Royal Visitors who came at the beginning of May. Her Majesty the Queen and H.R.H. the Duke of Edinburgh were no strangers to Malta. They had already a sure place in the h~arts of the people, from their previous visits here, and this particular visit was a renewal of old friendship. The Royal Family too, was complete in Malta, for Prince Charles and Princess Anne had arrived in the island a few days ahead of their mother and father.en_GB
