Abstract: Malta can certainly boast of a large bibliography. Her great memories have been sung by local and foreign historians alike. The intrepid gallantry and unswerving loyalty of her sons have received honourable mention from distinguished men of letters. It is regrettable, however, that the neighbouring island of Gozo has quite often been considered as a mere appendage of Malta. Its chequered and memorable history has been, to a large extent, ignored. It was only a patriotic and noble-minded Gozitan who valiantly tried to search the silent archives and other sources of documentary evidence, to interview aged people, and thus rescue its history from the dark realms of oblivion. His name is Gian Pietro Francesco Agius Sultana, or as he is known for short, De Soldanis, Protonotarius Apostolicus and Canon of the Cathedral Chapter of Gozo - a man who blazed like a star and dimmed the stars that shone around him.
