Abstract: Scenery and peacefulness, not industry, are the natural and traditional features with which the sister isle of Gozo is usually associated. Devoid of ports and with little intercourse with the outer world, this island is completely unspoilt, and has a delicate charm all its own. But though there is no hum of activities, no roar of traffic, no clatter of commercial transport, one can notice a great deal of light industry, together with peasant crafts and trades.
