Abstract: | Three brief case-studies, one from Morocco, a second from Israel and a third from Brazil serve to highlight many of the key characteristics, agendas and values of what can be broadly ascribed to civil society organisations. They also provide some background and context for the more generalised discussion on the role of civil society that follows in the remainder of this brief essay. |
