| Abstract: | In this article, the author traces the history of Ghar il-Kbir and how the cave dwellers, or troglodytes, used to live in such a place. The author provides a description of the area by the Jesuit Athansius Kircher, who visited Malta in 1637 and gave a very detailed account about the cave and the people living in it. Other cave dwellings in both Malta and Gozo are also mentioned by the author. |
