Abstract: Malta might be a small country almost invisible on the world's map and yet it is incredible to find that its people have, during the past century and half, fanned out to many parts of the world. This urge to migrate by the Maltese has been due mainly to a desire, on the one hand, to secure a living in the face of constant increases in population. It has also been the result of unfavorable economic conditions which have s,wept Malta from time to time.
