The French took over the Maltese Islands on 12-13 June 1798 " with a loss of not even 30 men". Napoleon Bonaparte himself, having landed his troops, made " Palazzo Parisio" his quarters and, without any loss of time, constituted the Commission of Government, entrusted with the general administration of the Islands. Several reforms in the public service, including the posts, were announced.en_GB
