Integrating social and family policy for the 90's - opening address [by M. J. Anstee]

Abstract

I was particularly pleased to have been invited to address this Conference at its opening session. This conference is but the latest in a series of Significant international initiatives taken by the Government of Malta, and I should like to express my warmest appreciation for past as well as this present initiative. I should also like to thank the Council of Europe for their support in making this venture possible; a venture in the organization of which, I am pleased to say, we in the United Nations Office at Vienna have also played a part. The theme of this conference is as important as it is topical. We in UNOV, where United Nations activities in the social area are concentrated, are in a unique position to observe the rapidly moving tide which is sweeping social issues to the very forefront of national and international concern.
