Integrating social and family policy for the 90's : preparatory address

Abstract

It is with pleasure that I welcome such a distinguished gathering for this experts' meeting in Malta to examine the subject of "Developing an Integrated Social Policy". From the very outset I would like to express my gratitude to you all, Maltese and guests alike, for accepting our invitation to participate in this initiative. Indeed we appreciate the extent to which your time and energies are stretched by your deep commitment and responsibilities in your respective offices. This in itself enhances the value of this meeting and imposes on us all a greater sense of purpose to maximize the potential of the little time we have together so as to end the meeting with the conviction that we have created another link in the chain of international and regional efforts aimed at ensuring the widest cooperation possible in the field of social policy.
