Abstract: | The provision of running water into Valletta marked the beginning of a progressive era for Malta. Until then the new city was considered a cadaver or "corpse" without the water necessary for the everyday needs of its population. It was scarse and only available in limited quantities from rock-cut wells or from mobile recipients ferried from Marsa by boats, a device which could be both dangerous and difficult in times of war. |
