Abstract: | Situated on one of the higher ridges of Malta, forming part of what is known as the Great Fault, Naxxar dominates the rich alluvial plain to the north west down to St Paul's Bay. This high position has been considered a safe habitable area since ancient times. The existence of cart-ruts, as well as several Phoenician burial places, bear witness to the fact that the area has been inhabited for thousands of years. |
