Abstract: Though Joseph Mary Genuis, a sculptor, died on October 15th, 1970, his spirit still lives. It lives in the works of art we have inherited from him, and his character is etched in the memory of his relatives and friends and of all those who knew him. Genuis was a humble, timid and highly sensitive introvert. He suffered slightly from an inferiority complex, a result of the poverty that haunted him to the very last moments of his life. Coupled with his humility he had a formidable artistic pride, a love for culture peppered with idealism, altruism and poetic, spiritual dreams. All these elements in his character were subordinate to his great unsatiable thirst for art. He lived for art's sake!
