Abstract: The Cassar Charity Competition was set up by Anthony Cassar Torregiani in 1921. Cassar Torregiani was a successful businessman but also a philanthropist. The organisation of this competition was independent of the Malta Football Association, and gathered thousands of pounds for charity in the 1920s and 1930s. The competition continued up until the late Sixties.
