Abstract: This paper gives an overview of facade cladding systems used in different climatic regions across Europe, namely across north, central and southern Europe, here represented by Lithuania, Hungary and Malta respectively. Different legislation and construction systems and materials were reviewed with underlying considerations for climate and thermal comfort requirements. This paper gives an overview of the environmental impact of facade cladding systems, typically part of an energy-conscious refurbishment, in the context of compliance with the EPBD.
