Abstract: This paper is about the saintly tale of San Kerrew, a hermit of obscure history. Known since the seventeenth century, the tale narrates several miracles and prophecies. It also recounts San Kerrew’s crossing from Malta to Gozo and settling at a particular Marian sanctuary in Qala overlooking the sea. The tale will be explored with the aim of uncovering geographical and social elements hidden within.
