Abstract: This is a study of the remediable Problems met in the elderly at home during a series of home visits/interviews carried out in the Ħamrun area between 9th September, 1985 and 14th September, 1985. The study included a sample size of 99 senior citizens, 66 of which were in fact interviewed. The above mentioned interviews assessed social, physical and psychological problems. These emphasized the following major problems namely, loneliness, whether or not they live alone; housing inadequacies; independence/dependence; medical and drug associated Problems. The survey is a pilot study which we hope will throw light upon a major social/medical problem facing our society.
