Abstract: Two historical manuscripts, dating back to 1783, were found among other hand-bound folios and volumes. They form part of a diary in Italian, which narrates the eventful 50 years or so of the last days of the Order of St John. One of them details the events of the French Blockade. Although unsigned, these manuscripts are believed to have been penned by a priest, Fr Franciscus Xaverius Baldacchino, who was a member of the Oratorian Congregation of St Philip Neri. The documents are being restored through an educational and cultural project.
