Title: | Analysing costumes as the vital role in the organised carnival in Victoria |
Authors: | Grech, Sarah |
Keywords: | Dance -- Competitions Carnival -- Malta Clothing and dress |
Issue Date: | 2015 |
Abstract: | This dissertation explores the idea of costumes as playing an essential role within Carnival in Victoria and aims to develop a better understanding of their various uses in the number of competitions held during the organised Carnival in Gozo. It does so by (1) analysing costumes as a pedagogical tool in primary school dance competitions; (2) gaining a semiotic understanding through costumes used in adult dance competitions; and by (3) looking at costumes as a theatrical element within the floats competitions. |
