Abstract: | Purpose The purpose of this dissertation was to carry out a literature review regarding the image quality criteria of periapical radiography. To evaluate the quality of the images in periapical dental imaging produced at the dental department. To suggest recommendations for improving the image quality in periapical imaging based on the results of this study. Methodology The research design for this study was a non-experimental, quantitative and retrospective type. Data was collected through check lists distributed among dentists who could rate the image quality of periapical images produced at the local general hospital. Results Results show that the majority of the images presented to the dentists were rated high in image quality. The image ratings were mostly consistent among the dentists evaluating the periapical images. Conclusion From the results of the study, the images obtained by digital periapical radiography have been mostly graded of high quality due to the high rating scores given by the dentist. However there is always room for improvement and recommendations were presented based on the literature review to improve the radiographic technique used in this field of imaging. |
