Abstract: | The word ‘slow’ often conjures negative feelings and therefore people prefer ‘fast’. This is reflected in the modern world of today. Through this study I investigated the link between the concept of slow living and user interface design, by which I created a project consisting of the design of a mobile application that can offer an experience to individuals who desire to discover less visited places in a leisurely manner. Three professionals were chosen to participate in an in-depth interviews. The scope of these interviews was to further explore the relationship between slow living and user experience design. Through qualitative research, project testing was done in order to test the functionality of the application; thus creating the best possible experience for potential users. The research showed that there is a link between slow and travel. Although it is a concept that is still emerging and there is lack of knowledge about slow travel, I learned that there are people who desire to have this experience. There are so far no widespread applications that promote slow travel and my application, Datsuzoku attempts to fill this void. |
