Body motion has always been considered as important for man. However, the increased lack of physical activity from a young age has been blamed on technology (Henner, 2012, p.5). Due to the extreme dependance on technology, this project aims to motivate children in physical activity through the use of technology, thus aiming to find a balance between physical activity and technological dependance. This project has adopted an interdisciplinary approach, including studies in art, psychology, philosophy, and physical education, to help solidify and understanding what it entails to motivate children in physical activity. This project refers to what has already been done especially with regard to technology. Through the collection of data including, in-depth interviews, questionnaires, focus groups and project testing, Augmented Reality technology was implemented to 3-dimensional animations aimed at children. This implementation was presented in the form of an application which could be installed on smartphones or tablets for children to use. Children’s experience of this project identifies whether the bridge between physical activity and technology is successful.en_GB
