dc.description.abstractIn this article, Fr Hermann Duncan recalls the story of the icon of Our Lady of Damascus found in the Greek Catholic Church in Archbishop Street. Its history is closely linked to the Order of the Knights of St John, also known as the Knights of Malta. Between 1523 and 1530, from the departure from Rhodes, the Knights roamed the Mediterrenean and the icon travelled with them. In 1587, it was placed in the newly built Greek church dedicated to Our Lady of Damascus in the new town of Valletta, where it could be venerated.en_GB
