dc.description.abstract | One of the most important types of drugs which require compounding is that for injection. In order to perform an I.V. additive service, the pharmacist must have reliable incompatibility literature available. Much has already been published on incompatibilities and this paper combines these reports into a comprehensive and easily readable table. The concentrations of the drugs used in the experimental work, the vehicles in which the tests were carried out and the volume of vehicle used are not included in the table. For these reasons, this table must be used only as a guide to potential incompatibilities. The two drugs listed may be incompatible in one vehicle or at one concentration, but this may change under other conditions. For example, calcium gluconate and magnesium sulfate can be combined in the same solution provided the calcium sulfate, which results from the combination, does not reach a concentration which exceeds its solubility. | en_GB |
