Abstract: | At the start of the 1911-12 football season, while the league competition was being held at the Athletic Ground in Marsa, a new ground was being built at Blata I-Bajda. The project was financed by three Maltese gentlemen: Anthony Attard, Rafael Borg and Alfred Sultana. The idea however, was probably fostered by notary Francesco Schembri Zarb. According to Carmel Baldacchino, The Mile End Ground represented the greatest era in the history of Maltese football. |
