| Abstract: | The 1965-66 season opened triumphantly with a successful production of Carmelo Pace's new opera CATERINA DESGUANEZ. Here, many thought, was a good omen not only for the season but also for the entire future of Maltese music and drama, for was this not a work by a Maltese composer, performed by an almost wholly Maltese cast, conducted by a Maltese conductor and produced by a Maltese as well? After Boulevard the year before this was yet another proof that our artists, even though mostly amateurs, are capable of concert.ed and sustained efforts. |
