| Abstract: | On the 18th September, 1971, a set of stamps was issued by the General Post Office in Malta, depicting the National Plant and National Bird. This is to be considered a historical event in local philately, since we have never before had any natural history specimens on Maltese stamps. In the short space available here I cannot go into the numerous factors which brought about the issue of these stamps. But since I have been involved in various ways I shall deal with the main points then. [excerpt] |
