| Abstract: | The recent restoration work of Mattia Preti's "St. George and the Horse", undergone at the National Museum, Valletta, at the express desire of the Hon. Minister of Education and Culture, Miss A. Barbara, has brought to light the beauties of a painting that have gone undetected for years and years. This titular altar-piece at St. George's Parish Basilica at Victoria, Gozo, is as original a picture as the mind that created it, since more often than not the Soldier-Saint is painted on horseback, in the act of spearing the dragon to death.
