Abstract: Building simulation programs require climate information in the form of hourly based typical weather years assembled from meteorological measurements. A thorough description of these weather data sets is presented in this paper followed by a classification based on the way they are derived from monitored data and a comparison between the different types. Finally, we analyse the efforts made to deliver urban specific climatic data to assess the effect of urban microclimate on buildings.
