The effects of work stress on the health and wellbeing of the individual were explored in this study through a sample of members of the Maltese workforce (N=92). Literature reveals that when individuals are stressed because of their job, they tend to be dissatisfied with their occupation as well, and their personal health and wellbeing suffers because of the two variables, and findings suggested similar outcomes. Factors such as age, gender, and occupational role were found to be moderators. A statistically significant, negative linear relationship was established between work stress and work satisfaction. A correlation between stress and (i) unhealthy eating patterns, (ii) disrupted sleep, (iii) the belief that one’s occupation is of risk to the physical and mental health, and (iv) absenteeism from work, was established.en_GB
