Title: Is there more to injury than just the physical? : a study of the psychological implications caused by injury in dancers
Authors: Gatt, Analise
Keywords: Dancing injuries

Issue Date: 2015
Abstract: This study will look at dance injury and it’s implications on dancers with special reference to the psychological impact. Pain would be a subject discussed to give insight as to why dancers keep dancing in pain causing further injury. A quantitative study will show the percentage of mood distress caused by injury as recorded using a mix between the Brunel Mood Score, (BRUMS) and the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS). A qualitative study will clarify any statistical variances, and look at the recovery phase of two injured dancers and the factors that impacted their well-‐being. A prospect of psychological guidance, as part of a holistic recovery process, which is accessible to injured dancers is also proposed.
