| Abstract: | The 1980-81 musical season was marked by an increase in the number of local productions and a decline in the number and quality of foreign productions, which included, on the other hand at least one prestige production - that of Giselle at the Mediterranean Conference Centre with the participation of that great star Carla Fracci. As in other cultural fields audiences were on the whole rather poor except when the performance had the attraction of a popular local name or the glamour of the spectacular. [excerpt] |
