Abstract: This thesis aims to examine the salient features of all types of wills contemplated under the Maltese Civil Code, being the ordinary and privileged wills. Through Throughout the various chapters I will scrutinize both the general and special formalities' of these wills and outline the process of publication and registration by the notary and also by the testator himself in certain special circumstances. Particular relevance will also be given to the newly introduced amendments relating to life assurance policies, the unica charta will, the secret will and the privileged wills. The thesis will be concluded with the author's personal final remarks as to whether there is any room for further reform and whether in view of a continuing globalizing world our legislators should contemplate to include newer forms of wills or at any note introduce rules of private international law in this area.
