The rendering of services

Abstract

No particular Roman institute can be cited as constituting a rough counterpart of "The Rendering of Services" in modern law. However, it seems to me, that the one Roman institute that can be claimed to foreshadow the subject under review in this thesis is “locatio-conductio". It is the affinity between those two institutes that has led me to treat of "Locatio Conductio" in chapter one. I trust that it would not be amiss to point out that I have not been able to trace a modern comprehensive work on this subject. Moreover, most of the works which treat of some particular feature of this Roman institute ore not available in local libraries. Hence, in dealing with this matter I cannot forego acknowledging gratefully the great help afforded me by Dr. J.M. Ganado' s "The Structural Growth of Locatio Conductio.” In dealing with the various aspects of "The Rendering of Services" I based my conclusions and observations on local jurisprudence. When treating specifically of the nature of the subject under discussion - a subject which none of the recorded judgements covers in a comprehensive manner. I drew my conclusions from what our local jurisprudence hints and implicitly endorses where it deals specifically with other aspects of "Tho Rendering of Services".
