dc.description.abstract | The thesis deals with the Developing Role of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in the transfer of Immovable Properties as it affects the Notarial Profession and its Legal Implications. It is divided into nine chapters. The first chapter gives an introduction to the thesis, concentrating on giving a brief outline of: a) the work of the Maltese Notarial system, b) the scope of the thesis in relation to ICT considerations and c) outlines the steps involved in the transfer of immovable property. The following chapter [chapter two] presents the various ICT criteria in the conveyance of immobile property. It outlines the detailed steps involved in the transfer of immovable property, and illustrates the use of ICT in the present system of transfer of immovable property. Chapter three focuses on the need for ICT incorporation in matters relating to the Notarial Profession, with particular reference to the transfer of immovable property by means of Notarial acts. Chapter four gives an overview of the methods adopted by foreign Notarial systems; whereas chapter five gives an overview of methods adopted by local legislation in relation to other spheres which relate to ICT. Recommendations for ICT implementation in matters relating to the Notarial Profession and their place in the legal context is dealt with in chapter six; whereas chapter seven is a continuation of chapter six, wherein it presents various ideological concepts such as the proposed one form, and form layouts. Chapter eight then deals with the various laws [which in general] require revision for the implementation of ICT measures. Chapter nine is a conclusion to the thesis and generally reviews the contents of the thesis. | en_GB |
