Abstract: Although Malta might not be so well-known, many foreigners have interacted with it indirectly through the countless movie scenes in which the Maltese archipelago is used as background. The islands have been used to pose as Spain, Jamaica, Turkey, and many other countries. Agius writes about the start of the film industry in Malta, along with some of the movies which were successful and those that flopped.
