Abstract: Introduction: deals with the concept of timeshare, its advantages and disadvantages. Chapter 1: deals with the historical development prior to the introduction of the Timeshare Directive. Chapter 2: deals with a general overview of the Timeshare Directive and introduces its 4 focal points. Chapter 3: deals with the first focal point which is that of information and transparency. Chapter 4: deals with the second focal point concerning the requirements that should form an integral part of the timeshare contract. Chapter 5: deals with the third focal point of the Directive regarding the cooling-off period during which the purchaser may withdraw or cancel the contract. Chapter 6: deals with the fourth focal point regarding the prohibition of advance payments and the cancellation of credit arrangements in the event that the contract is cancelled within the cooling off period. Chapter 7: deals with enforcement mechanisms in the EU and in Malta. Conclusion: deals with the proposed amendments addressed to the Community and local legislators.
