Towards the juridical equalisation of the spouses : a comparative study of the proposed reforms to family law

Abstract

At the time of writing, the legal organization of the Maltese family is proceeding through a transitory period of development, initiated with the publication of the White Paper proposals in July 1985 and subsequently consolidated in the Draft Reform Bill of May 1986. The text of the reforms is currently being considered by a Parliamentary Committee appointed to study the various possibilities open to our Legislator in the challenging task of reshaping and updating the traditional structure of family relationships in Malta. When the final draft of the reforms will be ultimately presented for enactment is anybody's guess.
