Malta Year Book's golden jubilee : looking back over 49 editions

Abstract

When the late Bro Leo Barrington fsc launched the first MALTA YEAR BOOK in 1953 little did he realise that 50 editions later this gem of information about Malta and Gozo would still be in existence expanding from its original 202 pages in fairly large print to its present day almost 600 pages. I am the lucky one now to be Editor for this the Golden Jubilee Edition. St Benild School which is the Editorial Board's headquarters has in its possession all 49 previous copies and I have had a chance to research some of those old pages which are now historical documents, finding out what my predecessors said, discovering the changes that have taken place over the years, seeing the names of those who made the headlines from year to year. Reading Malta's history over the last 50 years, reading about all those Maltese and foreign ladies and gentlemen who have contributed one way or another towards the success of THE MALTA YEAR BOOK.
