Abstract: | A fundamental principle of Marine Insurance is that of insurable interest. A person cannot be indemnified unless he suffers a loss and he cannot insure unless he has an interest in tie subject matter which might be lost or damaged. It became necessary to make this ruling to prevent insurance being used as a cover for wagering. |
