dc.description.abstract | Disrupting the funding of terrorist organizations has been necessary since the 1960s in the United States by the intelligence and security community to disrupt the activities of subversive organizations. The United Kingdom government has been fighting the war against terrorism since the 1980's and only recently has it achieved some degree of success in disrupting the funding of terrorist organizations in Northern Ireland. The international convention for the suppression of terrorism was open for signature at the United Nations in New York on the 1oth of January 2000. At that time, few countries found that as a priority until the September 11th 2001 tragedy hit the world. | en_GB |
