Title I of Part II of our criminal Code deals with crimes against the Safety of the Government; Title II deals with crimes affecting the Public Peace; and Title III deals with those crimes against the Administration of Justice and other Public Administrations. These three titles all have one thing in common, that is, the safeguarding, and preservation of the State (and its various organs) in its normal functions. In other words, the crimes mentioned in these three Titles strike at the very foundation, the very existence of the State, all in their own particular manner. The crimes against the Safety of the Government attempt directly at the very life of the State. In this class of crimes, we come across Treason which has been described as a most atrocious crime which endeavours to subvert by violence those institutions which have been ordained in order to secure the peace and hapiness of society.en_GB
