Abstract: The following dissertation focuses on the teaching of drama within Gozitan state, private, and public schools, not only as a means to perform on stage, but to also provide students of different ages the opportunity to educate themselves by utilising drama and theatre in education. Four drama teachers were invited to take part in an interview regarding their experiences in the teaching of drama on the island, and these pedagogical approaches are discussed. Ways to improve the students’ experience, sourced from the practices created by Konstantin Stanislavski and Augusto Boal, are also discussed. These practices include the use of communication and the ‘I am’ state, from to the system of Stanislavski, and Image and Forum Theatre, two of the methods that form part of the Theatre of the Oppressed as designed by Augusto Boal. These practices will be discussed not only as viable techniques to use in the creation of stage-characters, but also as ways of impacting the everyday life of the students.
