Abstract: The aim of this research was to identify how 3D technology is disrupting the medical industry in Malta. The study provides literature on how 3D technology can be applied in the medical sector and focuses on how certain applications of 3D technology are being utilised by some Maltese medical professionals. In order to achieve the objective, the researcher made use of semi-structured interviews to collect qualitative data. The participants chosen to take part in this research may directly or indirectly make use of 3D technology in their medical profession. The data collected was than analysed using a thematic analysis approach. The research shows how 3D technology facilitates some of the Maltese medical professional from their perspective, however it can be identified that Malta’s medical industry is limiting itself on how to utilise such technology. Thus, the study suggests how Malta can improve the way 3D technology can be applied in the medical field. Furthermore, the study identifies certain limitations that the Maltese medical professionals face due to the lack of investment in 3D technology. The study outlines the potential that 3D technology has and its benefits for the medical industry in Malta. The research also recommends how Malta can adapt to certain suggestions made by the participants themselves.
