Abstract: This dissertation will serve as an accompanying document to my undergraduate final recital. The project explores the young lyric soprano voice and effective ways which contribute to its development through good performance practice of selected works. Understanding one’s instrument and appreciating one’s individual timbre is quintessential in developing the voice. This dissertation presents my perspective on tackling standard soprano repertoire, the process and approach I have taken and the challenges I have succeeded to overcome. My reflections in this dissertation encapsulate my thoughts and current under- standing of my voice at this point in my vocal development. I am aware that the attention and focus I am giving to certain aspects of singing at present may change as I master these points and they will become natural to me, hence allowing me to move on to others.
