This thesis is intended to examine Seafarers' rights under International Law. It is a popular misconception that International Law has to do only with heads of states, legislatures, courts and diplomacy. This impression is in part a true one, but on the whole of it, it is erroneous. Everybody who comes in contact with foreign countries, whether officially or otherwise, uses International Law, even if that person does not know it. For these persons, in particular persons whose profession is related to the sea, the importance of International Law cannot be overemphasized. Seafarers transverse bodies of water that are controlled only by International Law. Seafaring as a profession is complex and unique in nature. Seafarers do not enjoy working conditions as usually on-shore workers do. Thus in this thesis the varies rights under different Convention and regulations are mentioned and discussed in order to try to establish what the seafarer is entitled to. Each Chapter will include illustration by relevant case law, and quotations from the same.en_GB
