| Abstract: | The aim of the project was to explore the adolescents' perceptions of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS). This aim was achieved by a descriptive survey approach. Convenience sampling was used and twenty participants who satisfied the inclusion criteria were chosen to participate in this study. Adolescents' knowledge and awareness were explored by using a self-administered questionnaire and a 100% response rate was obtained. The students showed significant knowledge on AIDS being an incurable disease. The majority identified the modes of transmission of HIV. In view of these findings, a number of recommendations for education and further research were proposed. |
