Abstract: The aim of this study is to highlight the existence of diversity in European cultures, and how this prevalent heterogeneity, badly managed politically, brought about divisions in Europe. Education is one route by which mutual understanding among these various cultures can be enacted, beyond the bureaucratic barriers that now divide Europe, thus promoting dialogue. In this study education is proposed as an alternative approach to intercultural conflict resolution. The establishment of mutual respect and understanding can build confidence and fulfil the ultimate visions Europeans entertain for themselves. Moving towards a "More Unified Europe" does not imply 'blind' homogenization but rather a focus upon the concept and practice of education and the determination of what truly gives Europeans a European identity. When communication and co-operation are present, intercultural trust is more likely to prevail. This could become the common goal of all European people and the aim of a future European education.
