Abstract: This study focuses on Malta’s budding film industry and it was carried out by interviewing key figures Maltese female filmmakers and experts knowledgeable about the local film industry from first-hand experience. The studies main focal points are the filmmakers’ careers and financial support they get for their films through government and private entities, however, other secondary issues which emerge from these main branches, such as discrimination, underrepresentation and the male gaze, areanalysedasaresultofthe initial question.
