History of mathematics : an encyclopaedia for Junior Lyceum pupils

Abstract

This dissertation deals with the development of a prototype multimedia encyclopaedia on the history of Mathematics for use in Junior Lyceums. We have also discussed the use of computers and multimedia in education. The package is meant to be used by teachers and pupils in order to enhance the latter's appreciation of the aesthetic beauty of Mathematics. A set of complimentary handouts and a detailed user manual are also included. The package was evaluated with the help of nine teachers. The feedback obtained shows that our main objectives have been reached, although we have suggested further improvements.
